Steps to Starting a MOPS Group

Cambridge 2nd Birthday May 06.JPG

  1. Order your Enquiry Pack by e-mail : info@mops.org.nz
  2. Read through the information. View the DVD and pray for God’s guidance.
  3. Visit a MOPS group, if possible, and see first-hand how it works. Contact the Coordinator first and let them know you are coming.
  4. Assess the outreach potential in your community. Begin by asking some key questions:
    - Is there a need for a programme like this in our community? In our church?
    - Do I and my local ministry agree with MOPS NZ's Faith Position Statement?
  5. Identify someone who'll carry the vision.
Are there other mums, mentor age women, director of women’s ministry in my church or community who could join the team and take leadership roles in a new MOPS group?
  6. Assess the availability of committed Christian mothers of preschool-aged children who could serve in leadership on a MOPS Committee.
  7. Submit a MOPS Charter Agreement with your pastor's or church officer's signature, indicating agreement with the MOPS Statement of Faith, and the $150 chartering fee to:
    MOPS (NZ) Inc.
    P O Box 12 307
    Chartwell Square
    Hamilton 3248
  8. By signing the Charter Agreement, the governing board and local leaders of your faith-based ministry agree not only with the spiritual foundation of MOPS (NZ) Inc, but with the legal requirements of the Charter Agreement, which are designed to protect the integrity of the MOPS concept.
    - The local church is responsible for the local MOPS group, which falls under its authority on all policy decisions. A charter is valid for one year.
    - The charter is renewed each February when the Charter Renewal is signed by the pastor or ministry leader and returned to MOPS (NZ) Inc with the Charter Renewal fee.
  9. Upon Acceptance as a chartered MOPS group, you receive a variety of resources to serve and support you to minister to as many mums and families as possible through local volunteer support.
    - Password protected MOPS Leaders' websites that are packed with articles that will help leaders grow in their leadership skills while drawing closer in the relationship with God, positional tips and ideas, and friendly forums available 24/7.
    - Networking and training opportunities
